Responsive WordPress themes

No matter what your business is, you need to have a website for it. Even if you’re just selling seasonal cookies to your friends and relatives, a website will still make it way better. So, yes, you do need to hire developers and ask them to build a decent website for your company, but before you do so, you need to go through:

Website essentials for any business

A website is not only a cute design and a couple of features. To have a good online presence, you need to follow all or at least some of these website essentials.

1) Have a good About Us page

It all starts here. People who have no idea about your business and what you do will probably check your About Us page first. Here is where you have the space to talk about yourself, the co-founders, and the business itself. Tell your visitors how the company started, tell them how passionate you were about the work, and include any facts or stories that would be interesting to learn about.

You could also include your mission and vision here if you don’t want to have a separate section for that. In short, make your About Us page sound really enthusiastic because this is probably one of the first pages that your new visitors would see.

2) Have a unique homepage

Talking about the first pages: don’t forget to have a homepage that stands out. The homepage is where your visitors (new or old) create the first impression about your website. This really is the very first thing they see, so you need to grab their attention with its cool design and exciting features.

You could also add animations or other interactive elements here for your visitors to be hooked right from the start. However, don’t forget that these kinds of features usually slow down your website, and you want to avoid that. If you’re not sure that you can keep the speed of your website with all those intricate elements, it is better to play safe and keep it simple.

In the end, visitors won’t wait longer than a couple of seconds for your page to load. So what would be the point of all those animations if none is left to see them.

3) Have a simple web address

Yes, we know that sometimes it is alluring to go extra and to name your web address “aplaceyouwanttobein4ever.com.” But let’s not really cross the mile. Unless, of course, this is something that you are sure your visitors would remember.

The best domain name has a very simple formula: “your brand name” + .com. Of course, you could choose a different domain instead of com, but com is currently the most beloved one. So, it is really recommended that you end up with the com version.

4) Have fresh content

One of the biggest examples of the website owners’ mistakes is opening a blog section and then paraphrasing (or even copying) other blogs into it. If this was what you planned to do: don’t do it.

Simply don’t. You want your website to have the freshest and unique content to scale higher in the SERP rankings. And copying others’ ideas is certainly not going to take you anywhere. By the way, if you’re not sure whether your content is paraphrased well enough or not, you can check it here

Instead, try to create content with fascinating insights that have rarely been touched upon before. You could also include opinion pieces, which are entirely your subjective blogs. Whatever it is, make sure you keep them up-to-date and write them engaging enough for your visitors to stay and keep reading. For instance, instead of using traditional printed business cards, SMB owners now prefer WordPress business card plugin to share contacts. This way they can seamlessly communicate with new clients, while also sharing as much information with their customers as possible.

5) Make it SEO-friendly

Finally, last but not least, make sure your website is SEO-friendly. How should you do that? By hiring SEO professionals, unless you’ve spent your last couple of years studying and practicing SEO. And as the chances are high that you didn’t, it is a way better solution to hire a true SEO expert than to spend a bunch of time studying it yourself.

Note that the results of your SEO practices won’t be visible at first. It will take at least a couple of months before you notice the difference. However, if you keep working and be persistent enough, you’ll wake up being on the first page of Google’s search results one day.
